Blog for 10/16/2010

Wish I could've come up with a more creative title. but hey.

So it's now 1:15pm on Saturday here in New York, and we still do not have Fox 5 or My 9. Cablevision
complains that these stations' parent corporation is greedy and we the customers think both are equally
greedy.Seriously have you noticed that we still have RNN?

Back around July the sci-fi network (now syfy) was moved down the dial by Cablevision, but no one
bothered to tell us customers. So after going through every channel, I found syfy at channel 67, right
next door to the Food Network, and channel 48 became RNN.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5610300/what_is_rnn.html?cat=2 <--the original article I wrote
on RNN.

Now seriously, RNN is still on the air. What programs are on RNN? Well the website claims that RNN is regional
Network News, which quite frankly is laughable because the only news program that is found on there is Inside Edition. InsideEdition is on at least two other networks. The only other show I've noticed they air is reruns of Cheers which is airedon another network as well. What about the rest of the day and night? INFOMERCIALS! Infomercials that air on every othernetwork.

Why are we paying through the teeth to watch the same things over and over? What is the significance of this station? Why not get rid of RNN all together and keep Fox 5 and My 9?

So what else is new? Well, a fellow Associated Content writer had me in stitches on twitter today <<Butt Bras>>. He posted: Bubbles Bodywear Glossary. I was hysterical laughing my butt off at some of the defintions.

I Just Felt Like Typing

I just felt like typing about nothing and everything at all today. I am not feeling great, and haven't been
feeling great for a few days now. I pee so much that I think I am my own water tower. I think my county can therefore give me my own zip code. Even when I don't drink anything, or try not to drink anything (after a while my mouth gets uber dry and I have to take a sip of something) I pee like a race horse. I also am hot and sweaty. I don't like being too hot. I feel sick when I am hot, or if I am already sick, I feel even sicker when hot. I've had the air conditioning on. I have all my fans on. When it was windy yesterday, I even opened the windows. And before you all make a joke and say I am going through menopause--you should all bite your tongues--I am 32. Oh and I haven'ta fever.

In generalI have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and that can be a real hassel sometimes. However, lately, I've been
getting a weird feeling in my stomach proper (in other words, not my lower abdomen). It could be from the fact that
because I am constantly peeing, I am barely sleeping, but something tells me it's a little more than that. If you have
a weak stomach look away from your screen now and come back later. Now on occasion I do throw up from my IBS. Howeveryesterday I threw up clear and mucous-like. It was like dry heaving but my body had to produce something and since therewas nothing in my system, this is what came up. I hate throwing up with a passion.

I just have to be okay for Saturday. Monday,if I am still sick, I will go to the doctor.

Since I haven't been sleeping or rather not sleeping well, I've developed bags under my eyes. If they get any bigger my whole headwill fit into them. I will be a walking, headless bag. Paper or plastic? Reusable? I'll have to cut out whole where the eyes should be andmake two little holes so I can breathe....

So in New York, this year we are electing a new governor. The candidates are Andrew Cuomo (D) and Carl Paladino (R-Tea Party). I amsure I can say that Andrew Cuomo will win, unless the rest of New York has their heads up their rear ends. Carl Paladino needs angermanagement classes. In case you missed the whole hubub. http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/09/30/carl-paladino-has-testy-encounter-with-reporter/
Now granted they shouldn't be bugging Paladino's daughter, whom he had out of wedlock, but at the same time he accuses Andrew Cuomo of having anaffair as well (and he did). However, Andrew Cuomo came clean about that years ago. What'syour point? Paladino has a way of trying to make himselflook good for doing a similar thing to Andrew Cuomo. Do you want a medal for cheating on your wife or something?

Paladino is also a horse's patoot when it comes to his political campaign. Not once has Andrew Cuomo try to drag Paladino's name through the mud. Then again Cuomo doesn't have to, Paladino's doing a great job of doing that himself. Watch this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdrn_v23gwk (Keith Olbermann's Countdown from MSNBC). Porn, racism... Just who I want as my governor! NOT! Then thethe cretin has the nerve to call the current governor David Patterson a drug addict... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lPovGfma6U&feature=related Well there'sno evidence that David Patterson is a drug addict. If he is one, which I highly doubt, it doesn't matter--he's not running for re-election. So this has no bearing on anything at the moment. Paladino pulled this one out of his rectum.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOozaSYm0K4&feature=related This video shows how he gave money to Democrats! I know-don't faint! However it's a videofor a different Tea Party candidate who was running in the primarie. Chances are if Republicans had heard of this guy they would've voted for him. At least he seems half sane...

This headline of a college man who was being videotaped two roomates has me angered. For those of you who don't know
Tyler Clementi was videotaped making out with another man and then was bullied by two of his roomates who posted the video on the internet. Clementi was so distrut that he jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge. Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei should spend the rest of their lives in rotting in a prison cell. If you ask me Clementi didn't commit suicide. He was murdered. While I am heterosexual, I don't feel there's anything wrong with being gay or bi. Love is love. Everybody wants to love someone
and be loved. There is nothing wrong with love.

Bullying, whether it is from kids or adults (yes there is adult bullying), is getting out of hand. It's as if people get a kick out of seeing other people suffer. I've beena victim of it several times for different things. .Bullying is a form of terrorism. My best advice to people being bullied- continue to be yourself! As long as you aren't hurting anyone, no one has the right to degrade you or force you to do anything against your will!

Creativity Can Be Found at Starbucks

I'm convinced that Starbucks brings out my creativity. Anytime I go there are always people working on something; textbooks out, notebooks out, laptops out.  For writers, such as myself, Starbucks is a source of constant inspiration. It is a great place for observing people as they go about doing things, their facial expressions, their clothing, their body language, etc. After all people from all walks of life come into Starbucks. They don't just cater to one type of person, which is part of makes Starbucks overflow with the electricity of creativity.  Observing folks helps me build stronger charcters as well as improve my obervation skills and my memory.

The irony is I rarely drink coffee. I hav eto feel well and not be anxious in order to consume a cup of joe or else I get jittery and more anxious. Nine out of ten times I drink unsweetened iced green tea, which some how calms my mind and lifts my spirits. It's like an opening in rain clouds that allows the sunhine to come through. It inspired me so much I wrote a poem about it.

Sometimes I just sit down and open my notebook and brainstorm--writing down what ever comes to mind first. That is  ironically how I came by the title of this b log. Sometimes my brainstorms can go on for pages and pages, and sometimes I sit at Starbucks for hours and hours. Then I go back and look at my brainstorms and occasionally somethign will stand out. One day when I was at Starbucks, I was jotting down ideas and sentences, etc, and I got stuck! It was if my brain became constipated; when the truth is a million thoughts were just competing for priority in my brain. So I stopped for a bit. I began to read a book I had with me. I heard a loud  noise! I looked up...and I thought "Caveat Lector!" and a las that is how that poem got written.

Maybe it's the lighting. Perhaps it's the chairs. Maybe it's the coffee or tea. Maybe i's the  barristas or those who go to Starbucks. Whatever the reason creativity lives and breathes at Starbucks!

Remembering 9/11

Remembering 9/11

I thought for remembering 9/11 this year I would put up a poem I wrote "with" William Shakespeare. This sort of poem would normally be called a cento, a compilation of lines from one or many poets. However, I did something a little different here. Shakespeare supplied the words; I just changed a few of them to make them relevant to 9/11.

In Remembrance

Two factions both alike in dignity
In fair New York City where we lay our scene
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny
Where civil blood makes hands unclean.
From forth the fatal horror
Comes our faithful foes
With their ignorance, they tried to overthrow
Doth even in their deaths, hatred still grows.
The fearful passage of two death mark’d planes
Into two towers, was not a shower of power,
But one of rage. This was not acting on the world’s stage.
This was all too real. And in rememberance it is hard to have
The feeling we feel. Rebellious subjects, enemies to peace
Profaners of the human race! Will they not hear? What ho,
You men, you beasts! That quench the fire of your pernicious
Rage, with purple fountains flowing from your veins—
On the pain of torture, from those bloody hands. Throw
Your mistempered weapons to the ground. Hear not the hatred in
Your heart. You have twice disturb’d the quiet of our streets, And
Made New York and the world’s citizen’s fearful, but not weak. I am
An American. Hath not American hands, organs, dimensions,
Senses, affections, passions; fed with the same food, hurt by the same
Weapons, subject to the same diseases, heal’d by the same means you are?
If you pricks us do we not bleed? The Weight of this sad time we must obey,
Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say. To be or not to be that is the
Question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows
Of outrageous hatred, or to take arms against a sea of trouble. And by
Opposing them, end them.

*note: Some of you may be reading this more than once as I am putting this up on my examiner, associated content, and bukisa as well.*

Various Ramblings and Such

It is the wee hours of the morning or extremely late at night. It depends on how you look at it. My head is pounding and my nose hurts-ah the wonders of the sinus! Nothing like a traffic jam in your sinus! The pounding is kind of like people honkingtheir horns. My nose hurting is kind of like that two ton truck that cut me off on the highway last week, but I digress...

I keep a notebook of quotations that either make me laugh or make me think, or in some cases both. I am currently browsing through it. And the quotation of the day is:

"There is an element of truth in every idea that lasts long enough to be called corny" ~Irving Berlin

Speaking of corn...why do they call those carbuncles you get on your toes corns? I mean where is the corn's ears. Why can't we eat toe-corns?Would we want to eat toe corns? Cream of toe corn soup!

I never said I was completely sane. After all if you have a great imagination you can come up with some pretty far out there ideas. I mean I wrote an article once about farts in outer space. I just wanted to make people laugh, and I did. Might be a little a gross to some, but seriously the way the world
is we need more laughter...and love...

I sometimes get "annoyed" with my mother if she doesn't laugh at my jokes. I put annoyed in quotation marks because I am not really mad. I just like to hear people, especially mom laugh, at my jokes. Nine out of ten times mom does laugh.

I may put some of those surveys from Facebook on here. Sometimes I answer them truthfully. Sometimes I answer them with weird and out there answers. Sometimes I mix it up a bit leaving my friends, family, and colleagues thinking what the heck was she thinking? Is she really a nutter?
